Ummm, Cereal

Ethan started on cereal. It took a while until it was really accepted.

We then decided that he could try feeding himself, well not really, but he loves the spoon.

Boys

Here are some random pictures of the boys.
This is a hat that my parents sent to Connor while they were on his missions. It doesn't really fit Connor anymore, but it sure works on Ethan.

I love this picture of all of the boys.

Connor and Ethan really love to play together. Connor can get Ethan to laugh harder than anyone.
Connor loves his brother so much that sometimes he just wants to eat him :)

The Boys

These are some pictures of the boys playing and having fun. Ethan just got two teeth. I was trying to get them in this picture, but you really can't see them.

I know that this one is sideways, but I just love it. Connor loves to take pictures with an old camera that we don't use any more. He really likes to take pictures of Ethan.
Connor is telling Ethan about the finer points of coupons. Ethan listened intently and then tried to eat one of them.
Zach and Ethan are having a staring contest. I think that Ethan might have won when he blew a raspberry that made Zach close his eyes. The boys certainly love playing with there dad.

Cascade Springs

We went to Cascade Springs on Monday. We decided that we wanted to try and get up there before it got cold. The colors were just amazing. Connor had a fun time running around and looking at the water and fish. Ethan was content to sit in the stroller and just watch.

There was a fire up there a couple of years ago. Here are some of the burnt trees that look like they are coming out of the middle of the new growth that has changed colors. It was really pretty to see.

I love this picture of Father and Son walking together. I think they even walk alike. It was a perfect day for a drive and a walk.

Pink Chair and Camping

These are just some random pictures that have happened the last little while.
My sister gave us this bouncy chair. We love it because it was FREE, but sometimes I will put Ethan in his toughest shirt just so that he won't get confused.

Every July the Butler family gets together for a camp out. This year I didn't stay over night because Ethan was only 3 months old and I didn't want to wake up everyone in the mountains every time he got up in the night. Zach did take Connor and stay over night. I went up during one of the days. There is a stream next to the camp ground that everyone played in on one of the warm afternoons. Unfortunately this is the only picture that I really have of camping. I will have to get some from my family and then update this post.

Family Moments

Connor loves to play with Ethan. He will lay on the ground next to him and talk with him. He can make him laugh to hard. Ethan loves to watch Connor. When is on the ground he will crane his neck around to try and find where Connor is to watch him. Sometimes they will watch Sesame Street or Dragon Tales together. I hope that they continue to like each other this much for the rest of their lives.
Connor is telling Ethan a story about what he just read in a book. Ethan is listening intently to the story.
Here the two boys are playing Peak-a-Boo. Connor can get Ethan laughing so hard when he sits and does this with him.

We took the boys to the Aquarium that is up in Sandy. Connor loved to play in the water where the Stingrays were, but he would touch them. He would keep a close eye on them so that they didn't get to close. One time he was more focused on his hand in the water and one came by waving its arm out of the water. It came right up to Connor and he got so spooked that he almost fell off the ledge he was standing on.

Pictures by Carrie

I realized that I didn't really have any pictures of Connor and Ethan, well any better than them just on the couch or the ground at my house. My sister-in-law Carrie, who takes just amazing pictures, decided that she could take pictures of all of the nieces and nephews. We met at the lake in Daybreak, by the new temple. She took some great pictures of the kids and then they played in the water. Here are just a few of the ones she took.

This is my favorite one of Connor. I think that he looks way to old.

This is my favorite one of Ethan. He is just so happy. There was a slight breeze there and every time it would blow in his face he would get a big smile.

See what I mean about great pictures :)

I am so glad that I got new pictures. Now I just need to get her to take family pictures some time. If you want to see more pictures that she has done, check out her website : www.carriebutlerphotography.com Thanks Carrie!!! You are just amazing.

Cooking with Connor

Connor loves to help out in the kitchen. He loves to help make anything that I will let him. It does take extra patience to have him help out sometimes since it take 3 hours to do a 1 hour job, but it is worth it. Connor knows that at the end he gets to lick the spatula. This is usually what he looks like before he is done licking every ounce of cake batter or cookie dough off the utensil he has.

We are now working on why don't lick the spoon from making scrambled eggs or lick the bowl that we made hamburgers in. We are getting there though. He is the best helper in the kitchen.

Finishing Out June

June has come and gone.  It was a fun month.  Nothing really exciting happened, except Connor and Ethan continuing to grow, but it was a great month.

Zach is teaching Ethan some of the finer points of boxing.  I think that he is getting the hang of it.
Connor loves to talk to Ethan and show him stuff.  Here he is showing him how to open and close a frosting container.  Ethan loves to look at Connor and smile.  I think they are going to be great friends.
We came home a little late from somewhere and Ethan was in a very deep sleep.  We tried to wake him up so that he would sleep better during the night.  Zach took him out of the car seat and laid him on the ground.  He didn't wake up at all so we decided to lay him on his tummy which he doesn't like at all.  It didn't phase him  at all.  He just laid there with his little tush in the air and continued sleeping.  I think it was about 15 minutes after this picture was taken that he finally woke up.
Ethan really doesn't like tummy time, but we still do it.  Right after this I am pretty sure he started letting me know that he doesn't like tummy time.
Ethan has really started to smile a lot.  It is hard to catch on camera so this is the best that I have so far.  We are so lucky to have two smily boys!!!

A Few Pictures

We have made it to almost six weeks, well six weeks tomorrow.  Ethan is doing great.  He continues to grow.

He loves to sit in his swing.  This outfit that he is wearing is one of those sacks that doesn't have pant legs, it is just square at the bottom.  This was one of our favorite things to put Connor in.  Zach calls them his Space Dog when they wear it because it has a rock and dog on the bottom.  It is a little big for Ethan still, that is why it looks like he lost one of his hands.

We lay Ethan on this couch often because he can look at the windows.  He also likes to look at his first book.  He will sit and stare at this book for a long time.  Connor will sometimes sit and tell Ethan what each of the pictures are.  They get a long really great.
Ethan has started to really look at people.  Occasionally you can get a smile out of him.  In the middle of the night I will look down at him thinking that he is asleep and he will have this same look on his face.  He is very observant.
We are so glad that Ethan is in our family.  He adds so much joy.

These are of Ethan and Connor playing.  When Ethan wears this outfit, the Rubber Ducky, We have to sing the rubber ducky song.  You know, "Rubber ducky you're the one.  You make bath time lots of fun..."  I am sure that you can all hear Ernie singing that in your mind.  That has become a favorite song.  I just can't remember all the words, so the song is a little different ever time.

Ethan Hunter Scott Batty

Ethan was born May 11th at 6:58 in the morning.  He weighed in at a whopping 7lbs 4oz and 19 inches long.  He came out just perfect and healthy.  I am sorry that the next pictures are in kind of a random order, but they were having a hard time downloading anyway.
This is Zach's grandma, so Ethan's Great-Grandma, Nana.  She is so great with kids and it is great having her close enough that she could come see him in the hospital.
My Mom and Grandma came to visit one evening.  This is a generational picture with Great-Grandma, Grandma, Mom and Grandson.  I am so glad that Ethan has so much family on both sides of the family.
He is the most awake newborn that I have known.  He has long stretches of time that he likes to just look around.  Luckily these times are usually not at night when he is suppose to be a sleep.  He seems like a very curious baby.
Connor cannot get enough kissing in.  He know that he can kiss the top of Ethan's head, but very softly.  He also likes to rub his hair.  I am afraid that Ethan is going to have a bald spot on the top of his head instead of on the back like most baby's get.  He is such a great big brother and likes to help out in any way possible.  He is adjusting to change well and is the best big brother any baby could have.

Zach and Connor would come to the hospital to have dinner with Ethan and I.  Connor enjoyed the picnic that it was because there wasn't anything to sit on.
He got new sunglasses that day and wouldn't take them off for anything.  He now is usually seen walking around the house with them on, no matter what time of day it is.
This is just was we were leaving the hospital to start on the grand adventure of a family of 4.  It is has been a great experience that I wouldn't trade for anything.  So far we have had no health problems.  We are excited to see where this adventure takes us.
